Guide

Set up with a prompt

Copy a prompt, paste it into your agent, and it does the setup. Pick the one for where you read. Signing in is the one step you always do yourself.

The one line version

An agent that can read a web page can follow this. It fetches the setup instructions and asks you for anything it needs.

Prompt
Read https://docs.lumin.guru/setup.md and follow it to set up Lumin for me.

The longer prompts below do the same job without the fetch. Use them when your agent cannot open URLs, or when you want to read what it will do first.

Claude Code

Paste this into Claude Code. It adds the Lumin plugin and saves your birth details, so no reading asks for them again.

Prompt
Set up Lumin, a KP astrology MCP server, in this Claude Code install.

1. Run: claude plugin marketplace add https://www.lumin.guru/plugin/marketplace.json
2. Ask me for the name the chart goes under, my birth date, my birth time and my birth place. Do not guess any of them. If I do not know my birth time, leave it out and say that a rectification can narrow it later.
3. Run: claude plugin install lumin@lumin --config birth_name="<name>" --config birth_date="<YYYY-MM-DD>" --config birth_time="<HH:MM, 24 hour local clock>" --config birth_place="<city, country>"
4. Tell me the three steps left, which only I can do. Restart Claude Code. Run /mcp, pick lumin and sign in with my email address and the six digit code Lumin sends. Then run /lumin:status to confirm it answers.

You cannot sign in for me, so do not try.

The plugin brings the reading method and a command for each topic. The plugin guide covers what it installs.

Claude on the web or desktop

A prompt cannot add a connector here. Claude only allows that from Settings, so this part is by hand and takes about a minute.

  1. Open Settings in Claude and go to Connectors.
  2. Click Add custom connector, name it Lumin, and paste https://mcp.lumin.guru/mcp.
  3. Click Connect, then sign in with your email address and the six digit code we send you.

Then start a new chat and send this, with your details filled in. It confirms the tools answer and checks your birth details before any reading uses them.

Prompt
Using Lumin, check the connection and set my birth profile.

1. Call get_reading_protocol and confirm it came back. Do not repeat what it returns.
2. Call set_birth_profile with these details, working out the latitude, longitude and UTC offset at birth from the place and date:
   Name: <your name>
   Born: <YYYY-MM-DD> at <HH:MM>, local clock time
   Place: <city, country>
3. Tell me in one line what set_birth_profile accepted, so I can catch a mistake.

Use these same birth details for every question in this conversation.

Keep your details across chats

Every new chat forgets your birth details. A Claude Project keeps them. Create a project and paste this into its instructions. Chats in that project start with your details already known, as long as Lumin is switched on in the chat's tools menu.

Prompt
Use the Lumin connector for every astrology question in this project.

My birth details:
- Name: <your name>
- Born: <YYYY-MM-DD> at <HH:MM>, local clock time
- Place: <city, country>

For every question, call set_birth_profile first with these details and my question, and follow the reading plan it returns. Do not answer before the plan's minimum number of tool calls.

Other MCP clients

Any client that speaks remote MCP works. Clients that support sign in open the same email and code screen on first use.

Cursor

Add this to .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project.

json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "lumin": {
      "url": "https://mcp.lumin.guru/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json.

json

  "servers": {
    "lumin": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.lumin.guru/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Clients without sign in

Pass a Lumin API key in the header instead. Create one at app.lumin.guru/api-keys. API keys run on the free monthly allowance too, shared across all of your keys.

json

    "lumin": {

      }
    }
  }
}

Why the prompts refuse to guess

A few minutes of birth time can change a cuspal sublord and flip a verdict. Every prompt here tells the agent to ask for your birth details rather than fill them in. If you do not know your birth time, say so, and ask for a birth time rectification later.
