Ask better questions

The shape of your question changes the answer Lumin can give. Five small habits make readings sharper, and the pattern library below shows each one applied.

1. Be specific about the event

KP astrology resolves around 78 named life events: marriage, second marriage, foreign settlement, court verdict, fertility, surgery, property purchase, election outcome, separation, and so on. The closer your question maps to one of those events, the cleaner the reading.

2. State the time window

Without a window, Lumin defaults to a generic dasha snapshot. Naming a window forces it to scan transits and antardasha periods inside that range, which is what produces specific dates instead of platitudes.

3. Give context on the situation

If you are asking about a job change while one is already on the table, say so. KP differentiates promotion from job-change using the 5th house (12-from-6th, end of current employment). Knowing your real situation lets Lumin pick the right technique.

4. Ask one thing at a time

Lumin can chain phases of a single reading well. Stacking three unrelated questions into one prompt forces it to compress, and the weakest answer drags the others down. Ask the second question after the first answer lands, the birth profile carries over.

5. Save horary for genuine decisions

Horary mode (the get_horary_chart_v2 path) reads the chart of this moment against your question, on the assumption that the moment matters. It works best when you are wrestling with an actual decision, not idle curiosity.

The pattern library

Ten real rewrites. Each weak version gets an answer. Each strong version gets a better one, for the reason under it.

Timing questions

WeakWill good things happen this year?

StrongIs marriage timing favorable in the next 18 months?

Names the event and the window. The reading scans real periods instead of summarizing the whole chart.

WeakWhen will my life improve?

StrongMy current period feels heavy. What dasha am I in, what is it doing, and when does it change?

Turns a mood into a checkable question about periods, which is what KP actually times.

WeakTell me about my career.

StrongI have been a manager for 4 years with no movement. Is promotion signified in the next 2 years, here or elsewhere?

Situation plus window plus the real fork, promotion in place versus a move. Each fork has its own houses.

Decision questions

WeakShould I change jobs?

StrongI have an offer with a 40% raise, joining date negotiable within 3 months. Does the chart support the move, and which joining window is best?

A live offer makes it an electional question too. Lumin can time the yes, not just give it.

WeakIs this relationship good for me?

StrongWe have been together 3 years and marriage is on the table. Does my chart support marriage with this partner, and when? Their birth details are 1996-04-02, 08:10, Galle.

States the stakes and brings the second chart, which upgrades it to a two-chart reading.

WeakShould we buy property?

StrongWe are choosing between buying this year and waiting. Does my chart favor purchase in the next 12 months, and if yes, which quarter?

Frames the real alternatives. A yes-or-wait question gets a calendar, not a lecture.

Worry questions

WeakIs something bad coming?

StrongMap my rough windows for the next 12 months, what each one touches, and what it is safe to schedule around them.

Unbounded dread becomes a bounded scan with dates and subjects. The answer becomes usable instead of scary.

WeakWhy is everything going wrong?

StrongSince March I have had job trouble and two family conflicts. Is there one period behind this, and when does it end?

Gives the onset date. Lumin can check what changed in the chart at that exact time.

Other people

WeakWhat about my son's future?

StrongRead my son's education signature and his next 2 years. Born 2012-11-30 at 16:45 in Kandy.

His future is in his chart, not yours. Birth details plus a named life area make it readable.

WeakWill my mother get better?

StrongMy mother has been in treatment since June. Born 1957-02-14 at 04:55 in Matale. Does her chart show a recovery window, and when?

Her chart, her details, a dated situation, and a window-shaped question, which is the shape health answers come in.

What to include, every time

  • Birth details, once per conversation. Date, time, place. For anyone else in the question, theirs too.
  • The window you care about. "Next 18 months" beats "soon".
  • The real situation, in one or two sentences. Offers in hand, dates already fixed, what was already tried.

Tip

Lumin will tell you when a question is poorly framed for KP. For example, "will my soulmate come?" gets a polite redirect to "will marriage happen, and when?" because the second is answerable from the chart and the first is not. For ready-made questions in every life area, see the example pages.
