Career questions reduce to four sub-questions in KP. Asking the right one gets you a useful answer.
Four flavors of the career question
- Job vs business. Read from the 10th house cuspal sublord, then check whether 2/6/10 (employment) or 3/7/11 (independent work) is more strongly signified.
- Promotion or change. 5th house (12-from-6) active means end of current employment, so 5+10 is a job change. 10+11 without 5 is promotion within the same place.
- Foreign career. 9+12+10 together signal foreign career. Lumin runs this as a three-stage analysis.
- Government job. Sun and Saturn placements, plus 10th and 6th sublords. Different chain of reasoning from private-sector work.
What dasha period are you in?
The current dasha tells you whether the chart is even open to a career-change moment. A long dasha that does not signify the 10th produces stagnation, regardless of how good your transits look. Lumin flags this directly so you do not chase a window that will not open.
